“Look, if you had one shot or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment, would you capture it or just let it slip?” – Eminem
Second chances are powerful. When someone embraces an opportunity to improve or to walk a different path, they can change their circumstances and inspire others around them to do the same.
Brightmark is committed to second chances, and that’s one reason why we are proud of our ongoing partner RecycleForce. This Indianapolis-based social enterprise helps formerly incarcerated people reenter the workforce by training them for careers in recycling. Through RecycleForce’s program, individuals learn valuable skills, receive personal mentorship and coaching, and begin their acclimation back into the workforce, all while helping the environment.
I recently attended the groundbreaking of RecycleForce’s new facility, and the occasion reminded me about the importance of the organization’s mission. The new 102,500-square-foot facility will allow RecycleForce to recycle 12 million pounds of electronic waste and employ 600 people annually, doubling its capacity for recycling both electronics and lives. It’s humbling to know that RecycleForce’s partnership with Brightmark helped to enable the organization’s growth, as we are the primary off-taker of the organization’s plastic recyclables.
I am incredibly excited for the RecycleForce team as they embark upon a new adventure for the organization and seek to maximize their positive impact on the Indianapolis community. We are proud to be their partner in second chances.
All my best,
Bob Powell
