GREEN MODE

It’s said that home is where the heart is. That feeling for me couldn’t be more true as Brightmark prepares to open its next circularity center right here in Georgia.

As a child growing up in Georgia, I spent a lot of time in my grandmother’s garden, learning about the world and our place in it. As a young man, my views on the importance of humanity and protecting the planet began to solidify when I attended Etowah High School in Cherokee County and Georgia Tech, guiding me to find my place in this world.

Now, as the founder and CEO of Brightmark, I’m excited to come full circle and put our stake in the ground in my birth home, the Peach State. We’re bringing circular innovations to the wonderful community of Thomaston and Upson County with our flagship plastic renewal circularity center, furthering our goal of creating a world without waste.

Our flagship Thomaston Circularity Center will divert nearly 800 million pounds of plastic waste every year in our communities from the Blue Ridge Mountains where my mom and dad live to the rivers like the Flint and the Chattahoochee, to the coast in places like Savannah and Brunswick. By taking the necessary plastics that we use and turning them into new circular plastic-to-plastic products.

Brightmark is pledging a significant investment in the community through this center and plans to employ more than 100 Georgia locals who will help us Reimagine Waste at an unprecedented scale. And we’re just getting started. There are bigger things to come for Georgia with plans to significantly invest and give back throughout the state and become a purposeful partner. I’m excited to be back in my home and look forward to what the future holds.

The future looks bright,
Bob Powell
