“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” – African Proverb

At Brightmark, the scale of our ambition is great. Our team is deeply focused on doing important work that solves our planet’s most pressing environmental challenges, including climate change and plastic pollution. And we’ve had key successes since the company was founded, including building the first-ever commercial-scale plastics renewal plant and launching 23 renewable natural gas (RNG) projects in nine states.

We’ve moved swiftly, with focus and vision. Now, to deliver that vision and bring our waste solutions model to scale, we’re bringing others into the fold who share in our ambition. Brightmark is thrilled to have recently announced our new partnership with Chevron to own dairy RNG projects across the United States. This partnership will fund the construction of these projects in multiple states, then Chevron will purchase the RNG produced and market the volumes for use in transportation vehicles operating on compressed natural gas. We’re thrilled to have Chevron on board, and we can’t wait to get to work under the auspices of this new collaboration.

This initiative couldn’t have come at a better time. Because RNG is a carbon-negative fuel, scaling our work in this market enables us to have a broader impact on climate change emissions from both the agriculture and the transportation sectors. In recent years, the transportation sector surpassed the power sector as the greatest contributor to climate change in the U.S. economy. It’s proven more difficult to squeeze the carbon out of transportation than it has electricity, and progress has been slow. We’re proud to be partnering with Chevron, one of the world’s largest transportation fuel companies, to make a dent in both transportation and agriculture emissions.

As I look out the window to see what color the sky is in the Bay Area today due to our unrelenting wildfires, I grasp the urgency of this work with renewed vigor and energy. We have far to go, but with optimism and teamwork, I know we’re prepared to meet the challenge.

Sincerely,
Bob Powell
