“When you’re in a position to have gotten so much, the gift at this point is giving back.” – Paul Stanley

I genuinely love the holiday season. Sometimes it may sound cliche, but it truly is one of the best times of the year. It’s almost as if there’s a magical power floating throughout the world—contributing to the sense of spirit and joy that’s evident during December.

Although, as much as I love the holidays, I do grow weary of our focus on mass consumption from time to time. Many individuals extensively emphasize mass consumerism (at least in the western world where capitalism reigns king). The holiday season becomes inundated with messages of “buy this, give that, you need this,” instead of focusing on what truly matters—family, friends, and finding ways to give back to others.

Making a positive impact is a practice I’ve always been extremely passionate about and try to emulate in my daily life. But during the holiday season, I believe it’s essential to consider ways to impact others positively.

In the spirit of giving back, Brightmark decided to work with Family Giving Tree, a non-profit in Northern California working to serve the Bay Area by “Granting Children’s Wishes for Joy and Learning Possibilities.” Recognized by Charity Navigator as a 4-star non-profit, they have helped nearly two million children and individuals, providing vital services to the Bay Area’s most in-need residents.

If you’re interested in supporting or assisting this organization yourself, I have the link to their website here: familygivingtree.org/holiday

This holiday season, I encourage us all to give back in whatever way we can—whether it is the gift of resources, support, or even the gift of time.

We wish you great happiness and health this holiday season.

Best regards,
Bob Powell
