Job Summary:
The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for the purchasing functions for the fleet; it will administer the fleet’s inventory program and identify the need for improvements and increased capabilities. Ensure that the inventory of parts and equipment is complete and accurate. The Warehouse Specialist reports to the Operations & Maintenance Supervisor and cooperates with all plant personnel relative to the purchasing process and inventory control. Position may require extended working hours with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain records of all purchase orders and purchase requisitions and obtain all necessary signatures.
- Deal directly with vendors to place orders and follow up on deliveries. Receive, store, and issue all items, materials and equipment ordered by purchase order or furnished by a contractor.
- Ensure all received items are properly inspected, accounted for, documented, and stored.
- Forecast, inventory, and reorder spare parts to maintain plant reliability. Complete monthly/annual inventories.
- Follow all purchasing and inventory management programs and procedures as directed, to include but not limited to proper set up of vendor files and receiving contractor safety questionnaires.
- Coordinate with the appropriate supervisors to obtain personnel for repair and maintenance.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Experience & Requirements:
- Must be able to work in the warehouse located in Oakfield, NY
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One year of purchasing experience.
- One year of warehouse work including shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
- General accounting experience preferred.
- One year of experience with a mechanical trade preferred.
- Experience using computerized inventory control systems preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Physical requirements may include: working on feet for extensive periods, stair and ladder climbing, and routinely lifting 75 pounds. Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, and ear protection must be worn in the performance of some duties. Work with hazardous materials may be required.
