Location: San Francisco 

This is a dual role of technical accounting and financial reporting. The successful candidate will have a background in researching, resolving and documenting technical accounting issues and, through experience and the interview process, demonstrate intelligence, analytical tenacity, and flexibility in thought.

This position will be responsible for researching technical accounting issues and providing guidance and support to business partners across the company. The role will work with groups throughout the organization to research and document accounting conclusions related to specific transactions and provide guidance and support to business partners.

Additionally, this position will be responsible to preparation of annual financial statements and coordination of the related financial audits.

Technical Accounting:

  • Work with commercial/origination teams to provide accounting analysis of prospective transactions – acquisitions, joint ventures and partnerships
  • Accounting research and documentation for a variety of complex and non-standard acquisitions, energy contracts and other transactions.
  • Coordinate the annual financial statement audit including the preparation of the related financial statements, footnotes and supporting schedules in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Communicate with business partners across the company to ensure technical accounting issues are identified and resolved.
  • Serve as a thought partner and liaison with business partners within the company to promote teamwork and organizational alignment.
  • Work closely with general accounting team to apply technical accounting principles

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of the Company’s Securities Exchange Act filings including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K
  • Assist in the implement a reporting and compliance system to automate the reporting process
  • Assist in the preparation of the Company’s earnings releases and related supporting documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with SEC and U.S. GAAP reporting requirements
  • Prepare the quarterly and annual GAAP checklist

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA certification (or equivalent)
  • 3-5+ years Big 4 public accounting experience with an emphasis in research and technical accounting or a combination of public accounting and industry technical accounting experience
  • Strong US GAAP accounting theory, research and application skills required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy, and ability to document work clearly and concisely.
  • Persistence needed in order to resolve problems independently, effectively and efficiently with business partners.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel), with knowledge of advanced features such as pivot tables, look ups and macros.
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver multiple, ongoing assignments on a timely basis
  • Team focus, ability to overcome obstacles to achieve goals, strong people skills
