Brightmark is seeking a highly motivated, action-oriented individual to lead our plastic conversion offtake efforts. Working as part of the Development team and closely with the Engineering team, this individual will originate offtake opportunities, develop strong customer relationships and successfully negotiate billion dollar offtake agreements.

The candidate must have experience with petroleum and petrochemical marketing, as well as trading and regulatory strategy. Excellent knowledge of the dynamic and developing petroleum industry is required, with strong ability to analyze and identify future trends. Candidate will initiate offtake discussions and lead the negotiation process to conclusion with primary focus on commercial terms that emphasize circularity benefits and green (or recycled) premiums to maximize value to Brightmark in these long-term offtake agreements.

This hire will also seek, or create, additional revenue streams by keeping a close ear to the market and our customers, constantly looking for and making thoughtful recommendations to Brightmark on future products. This can be through policy or legislative changes as well as through R&D for new liquid streams. The former will require collaborative engagement with our legislative and engineering teams. In all cases, this candidate should be the best ambassador for Brightmark externally and be super analytical in the economic and technical impacts of these recommendations.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead all aspects of offtake development by effectively assessing all factors and presenting the most value creating offtake opportunities to Brightmark
  • Develop tactical execution plans for offtake discussions and negotiations, including, but not limited to, status of the petroleum commercial market and the resulting trends
  • Be adaptable according to the constantly changing petroleum and petrochemical commercial markets
  • Collaborate with colleague departments including Engineering, Legal, Construction Services and O&M in support of offtake process and success
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while actively assessing the status of products, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, and keeping with the project timeline
  • Direct outside consultant activities retained in support of offtake opportunities
  • Approximately 25% travel to potential project locations across USA for meetings/presentations

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant or applicable field
  • 10+ years experience in the energy industry, with an emphasis on petroleum and/ or chemical industries

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A proven track record of successfully negotiating large and complex commercial agreements in the petroleum or petrochemical industry
  • Strong leadership and strategic skills with an ability to balance and prioritize competing interests
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business relationships quickly and to negotiate and close offtake deals
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic entrepreneurial environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and interface effectively with cross-functional employee groups of all levels and competencies
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter with a burning desire to learn and win
  • Effective at creating, analyzing, and presenting information logically for successful offtake partnerships

  • Ability to perform and interpret financial analysis and provide appropriate data and information
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills

  • Knowledge of finance, business and sales concepts
  • Fluency in CRM tools, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Preferred Requirements:

  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and network connections in the petroleum industry including future trends
  • Energetic and aggressive in pursuing opportunities, forming successful partnerships
  • Strong desire to advance the adoption of sustainable projects in the global energy mix
  • Experience introducing new product and service offerings, and developing corresponding value propositions
